Electric Castle has earned a significant international distinction after being named International Festival of the Year at the 20th edition of the UK Festival Awards held this week in Manchester.
The award recognises the festival’s reputation as one of the most innovative events in Europe’s live entertainment sector. According to the organisers, the title reflects excellence in production, artistic direction and sustainability, as well as the festival’s ability to deliver a distinctive experience for its audience.
Electric Castle topped a strong list of nominees, including Afro Nation in Portugal, Beyond The Valley in Australia, Open’er Festival in Poland, Sziget Festival in Hungary and Way Out West in Sweden. Winners are selected primarily by a jury of industry professionals who evaluate all aspects of a festival, from organisation and infrastructure to environmental programmes, line-up and audience engagement.
Tudor Costinaș, Head of Communication for Electric Castle, described the recognition as both “an honour and an emotional moment”, emphasising that originality and experimentation remain at the core of the festival’s identity.
Preparations are already underway for the 2026 edition, which will take place between 16 and 19 July at Bonțida. The Cure and twenty one pilots have been announced as headliners. A payment plan for festival passes has also been launched, allowing fans to secure tickets with a €10 advance, followed by three fixed instalments. Prices start at €169 for a General Pass and €139 for the Youth 21 Pass, excluding taxes.
Electric Castle is also in the running at the European Festival Awards, where it has been shortlisted for Best Major Festival. The winners will be announced in January 2026.
