Cluj-Napoca is taking a modern, eco-conscious approach to New Year’s Eve celebrations by replacing traditional fireworks with an innovative drone and laser show. The decision, announced by the city council, aims to protect animals and the environment while still providing a festive atmosphere for residents and visitors.
This year’s Revelion 2025 festivities promise an unforgettable experience. The main event will take place in Piața Unirii, where a packed programme of live music and entertainment awaits. The night kicks off with a performance by Remakers at 10:00 PM, followed by the popular band Hara at 11:00 PM. At the stroke of midnight, an impressive drone and light show will illuminate the night sky, marking the start of the New Year. The celebrations will continue with a concert by Aurel Tămaș starting at 12:10 AM.
In addition to the main event, visitors can enjoy the magical setting of the Cluj-Napoca Christmas Market, which features a panoramic Ferris wheel, traditional treats, and handcrafted gifts from local producers. New Year’s Eve will be the final night for guests to enjoy the market’s festive charm, including mulled wine, gingerbread, and seasonal delicacies.
For those looking to extend the celebrations, the Winter Fair at the Horia Demian Sports Hall will remain open until 15 February 2025. The fair’s main attraction is a skating rink, offering family-friendly fun throughout the winter season.
To accommodate the community, public transport services will operate extended hours on New Year’s Eve. Buses, trams, and trolleybuses on selected routes will run from 10:00 PM to 1:30 AM, ensuring attendees can travel safely and conveniently. Details about transport schedules can be found on www.ctpcj.ro and the Tranzy app. This information was only published in Romanian, unfortunately CTP did not translate this onto the English version of their site.
Mayor Emil Boc praised the event’s focus on sustainability and inclusivity, calling the transition away from fireworks a step toward a better future. “Fireworks are already part of the past, not the future,” he stated, highlighting the city’s commitment to protecting both its residents and the environment.
With concerts, dazzling light displays, and a family-friendly atmosphere, Cluj-Napoca is setting the stage for a New Year’s Eve to remember.
