You thought that time flows irreversibly? Well, you can defy the laws of time at Joben Experience Bar, a magical place where you go back to the enchanting universe of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. Initially, the pub was conceived in the spirit of industrial design, but seemingly insignificant objects -junk- made us realise what would be the appropriate atmosphere for this place. The playful made its way into our imagination, encouraging us to play with objects, textures, and especially with ambient lighting. So, we steadily deviated towards steampunk. The style left its mark on this place, bringing it to life and taking our visitors to fantasy times.

‘Steampunk is a sub-genre of science-fiction and speculative fiction which became prominent in the 80s and 90s. The literary works in this category model an imaginary world that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Although its literary origins are sometimes associated with the cyberpunk genre, steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century’s British Victorian era or American “Wild West”, in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage, or in a fantasy world that similarly characterised by inventions similar to the ones in Jules Verne and H.G. Wells’s novels.’

ABOUT US

We wanted to use 60% steampunk, 30% industrial, and 10% elegant classically-themed elements to soothe the abundance of details in the bar. The space is divided in 3 relatively different rooms: the entry area where coating brick is used, the bar area and the black room. The lighting gives an exquisite note to the place as well as to the furnishings. As the name of the bar is ‘Joben’ (top hat) a motive we used for the lighting devices. The process can be seen as a play and we welcome you to watch it unfold. Hats off!

ON THE MENU

Try one of our dishes: Croque Monsieur, Chicken Delight, Ratatouille ragout, Tagliatelle quattro formaggi, Pork sirloin rolled in fresh pepper, Shrimp cocktail, Wasabi burger. You can also order a Joben charcuterie board with a variety of salamis. Fancy something sweet? Why not try a cheesecake, a flavour bomb or the tiramisu?
