Cluj-Napoca has long been recognised as one of the most expensive places to live in Romania, but this 11sqm apartment has both the locals as well as others from around the country, scratching their heads and became the focal point of some absolutely hilarious comments.
We first picked up on the announcement, posted in Facebook groups and pages by Panoramic Imobiliare Cluj on February 6th. By the time we had encountered it, the comments were already starting to gather 100's and 1000's of likes.
Any Publicity is Good Publicity…. Or is it?
Vlogger and Festival Touring, Alin Pandaru “Pandutzu“‘s comment stood out first, where he said, “I like that mirror that gives the illusion of extra space” and so far, his comment alone has fetched 1.7k likes!
However, some of the comments have exploded, fetching 10-20k likes or more in less than 48 hours!
Here's a list of some of the best comments we've found so far:
Even the official page of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministerul Afacerilor Interne, Romania) commented “Nu ne interesează garsoniera. Vrem să angajăm fotograful!”, which translates as We're not interested in the studio. We want to hire a photographer!.. Not quite on-topic, but certainly amusing to see a government body engage with this post.
The post has also caught the attention of various national news services, such as Stirile ProTV, DigiFM, MediaFax and Libertatea.
It's GONE!
The apartment was reported to have been taken by a young lady who will live alone with the price being negotiated down to €180 per month.
Rooms in shared apartments in Cluj-Napoca often tend to fetch between €130 – €200 depending on the area, and when you consider that this room, although small, has everything that someone might need and the added bonus of privacy and low expenses, the price, though at face value might seem ridiculous, isn't actually a bad trade-off for your own private space.
