Defence minister Nicolae Ciuca, announced on Digi24, that starting from May 4th, they will try out a one-week pilot project to offer vaccinations without appointment, in order to speed up the vaccination campaign.

He stated, “Starting next week, on May 4, we will try a one-week pilot project, so that vaccination centers at military hospitals can operate around the clock and citizens can be vaccinated without booking an appointment on the online platform,”

The program will operate at all 11 military hospitals across Romania, which includes Spitalul Militar de Urgenta “Dr. Constantin Papilian”, in Cluj-Napoca,.

This will come as welcome news to many, who have expressed concerns around waiting lists on the ROVACCINARE website, as until recently, the amount of people waiting has often been over 500 per centre, although this has also improved significantly over the past 2 weeks.

In addition to the vaccination centres, Cluj-Napoca also is one of the cities that has a drive-thru vaccination centre, located at Sala Sporturilor Horia Demian, where people can simply drive up and receive a vaccine in their car, providing that they are registered as a resident in Romania.

Some companies have also began offering vaccines to their employees, further extending the vaccination effort.
