ANNOUNCEMENT: Venues in Cluj to close from 12 Oct due to rise in COVID-19 Cases

Due to the fact that the number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase in Cluj, the Cluj County Committee for Emergency Situations (Comitetul Județean pentru Situații de Urgență Cluj), have announced that venues across the county will be closed from October 12th, for a minimum of 10 days and until the amount of cases drops to be low 1.5/1000.

In their official decision, it stated,

“Considering the cumulative incidence rate for the administrative-territorial units in Cluj County, communicated by the Public Health Directorate of Cluj County and the fact that the cumulative incidence of the last 14 days in Cluj-Napoca and other administrative-territorial units, respectively Apahida, Căianu, Cășeiu, Câțcău, Cuzdrioara, Feleacu, Floresti, Mintiu-Gherlii, Mociu, Săcuieu, Sâncraiu, Sic and Vad is above the threshold of 1.5 / 1,000 inhabitants, the Cluj County Committee for Emergency Situations approved today Decision no.46 , which ordered the following measures to limit and prevent the spread of the SARS Cov2 virus, starting with 12.10.2020, until the date of reaching an incidence rate less than or equal to 1.5 / 1,000 inhabitants”.

The decision of closure will affect the following venue types, for a period of 10 days:

  • Restaurants
  • Cafes
  • Gambling Venues
  • Cinemas
  • Bars
  • Clubs / Discos

The prefect of Cluj county, “Mircea Abrudean, announced that a record of 117 cases were registered on Thursday, October 8th in Cluj-Napoca, reaching 1.54 out of 1,000 inhabitants within the past 14 days.

The closure of these venues will be upheld for 10 days, and then the epidemiological situation will be analysed again.

It will also be prohibited to arrange events such as weddings, baptisms or parties. It is also forbidden to organize shows or concerts indoors.
