Gallery – Romania Remains: Cluj for Democracy – Europe Day Rally

On 9 May 2025, a large crowd of people gathered in Cluj-Napoca’s city centre for a peaceful rally supporting Romania’s continued European path.

Held on Europe Day, the event featured civic leaders and activists calling for democracy, transparency, and a rejection of extremism. EU and Romanian flags filled the street as attendees voiced support for a pro-European future amid rising political tensions ahead of the presidential elections.

Cluj should not lose sight of what UNTOLD has become: a major tourism engine, an international cultural landmark and one of the city’s most successful global exports.
The LOCUS project aims to move around 140 people from Pata Rât into social housing across Cluj-Napoca and the metropolitan area. It represents a potential step towards desegregation, but also follows decades in which evictions and municipal decisions helped concentrate predominantly Roma families beside the city’s waste facilities.
